Andy Stones is a singer/songwriter and guitarist, born and raised in Yorkshire's capital city, York.  He started playing the guitar and writing songs at the age of 14, and now Andy has gained a wealth of experience playing the acoustic music scene all around the north of England. He has made various appearances on local and regional radio as well as performing at The BBC's Television Centre.
Andy's brand of northern-tinged acoustic song crafting has had comparisons drawn to artists such as John Martyn, Paul Simon and Richard Thompson.

Hailing from York, Jess Gardham has been passionate about music for as long as she can remember. She first began writing songs at the age of 12, then her dad taught her to play the guitar so she could accompany herself.
Now Jess is in her mid-twenties and her musical career is going from strength to strength having shared a stage with international stars KT Tunstall, Kathryn Williams, Claire Hammil and the legendary Tony Joe White, as well as many talented local musicians. Influenced by folk and soul, Jess's music has a wide ranging appeal

Paul Liddell is already somewhat a veteran of the acoustic music world, having released two solo albums and an EP, and an EP with his band ‘Delphians’. His raw and unpretentious delivery combined with the use of live sampling, guitar percussion and layered vocal harmonies provide a great platform for his wonderful songs to shine. Paul has shared billing with Beth Rowley, Glenn Tilbrook, Karine Polwart, Polly Paulusma, Kathryn Tickell, Nick Harper, Amy Wadge, Nerina Pallot, Billy Bragg and Florence And The Machine. Paul’s songwriting and performance have been recognised throughout the industry, claiming awards for ‘Best Male Artist’ at the International Acoustic Music Awards, a finalist’s place at the Independent Music Awards, and a winning place in the International Songwriting Competition ’07.

For one night only the Market Place, Malton will become the playground for an army of fairies, a group of amateur actors, a mischievous hobgoblin and a quartet of Athenian lovers.
Join us as we progress from St. Michael’s Church, through the Market Place to the Milton Rooms and encounter surprises in the Shambles and comedy in the car park.
A core group of professional actors, including Richard Bremmer, Tom Stuart and Leah Whitaker will form the back-bone of this spectacular production which includes 150 local people and will embrace local history and local mysteries.

Cold Blood, Cold HeartReturning to the Milton Rooms following sell-out performances at last year’s Literary Festival Cold Blood, Cold Heart is a surreal Gothic horror farce telling the story of Lord Sir Charles Froschenkel, a budding young doctor whose experiments take him much further than he ever dared to believe possible.

Join us in our newly refurbished Studio Theatre Bar as we follow this epic tale of scientific experimentation and it’s tragic consequences.

The Hut People are an accordion/percussion duo playing tunes from around the world. Sam Pirt, on accordion and Gary Hammond, on percussion began playing together in 2008 after jamming in Sam’s hut (studio), hence the name. Sam has been bathing in the folk world since a small boy. Gary has been paddling in the jazz, world and pop pool. Since meeting Gary has swum into the folk world where he is wet and happy.
The stage fills with percussion instruments from around the world as well as Sam’s accordians and dance shoes.

Based on the Isle of Skye the legendary Peatbog Faeries have been described as ‘The Future of Celtic Dance Music’. Incorporating many influences, which take them from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hip hop, reggae and more, this inventive and unique approach brings to its audience a true flavour of traditional Scottish music whilst offering high-octane Celtic dance music. With their signature sound of fiddle, pipes and whistles allied to electric guitar, bass keyboards and drums, the Peatbogs have always had a large and varied musical palette to draw from, mixing reels and jigs with the colours and rhythms of rock, world and dance music, to headily powerful effect - so be prepared to dance!
The Peatbog Faeries have twice won "Live Act of the Year" at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards and have taken their own individual brand of Scottish tunes to audiences around the world, from European Festivals, to Asia, Africa, America, Canada and Australia.

Edwina Hayes is a singer/songwriter described by Nanci Griffith as ‘The Sweetest Voice in England’. Her version of Feels Like Home was featured in the major motion picture My Sister’s Keeper.
Touring the folk and acoustic circuits extensively, Edwina spends most of her time on the road performing her songs to an ever-increasing audience of fans.
